What is a frac tank?

A frac tank, short for fracturing tank, is a large, mobile storage container used in the oil and gas industry to store fluids during hydraulic fracturing operations. These tanks are typically made of steel and can hold anywhere from 250 to 500 barrels of fluid.

Frac tanks are designed to withstand the high pressures and corrosive nature of the fluids used in hydraulic fracturing, such as water, sand, and chemicals. They are equipped with valves, manways, and other fittings to facilitate the transfer and containment of fluids.

Frac tanks are commonly used on drilling sites to store and transport water, chemicals, and other fluids needed for hydraulic fracturing operations. They can also be used to temporarily store produced water, drilling mud, or other fluids generated during the drilling process.

In addition to their use in the oil and gas industry, frac tanks are also used in other industries such as construction, mining, and environmental cleanup for the storage and containment of various liquids and solids.
